DRI Director arrested for graft by CBI

Chennai, Mar 7 : The CBI today arrested senior Director of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) and its former Airports Customs Commissioner C Rajan on charges of graft.

According to police, acting on a specific complaint, a team of CBI officials arrested Mr Rajan at his residence in the city and seized Rs 2 lakhs which he had received as bribe from a mobile phone retailer, besides a costly I-pod from him. They took him to the CBI office in the city for further questioning.  He was later being produced before a special CBI court for judicial remand.

The police sources said Mr Rajan , who was one of the senior most officials of DRI and had served in Customs for long as Airport Commissioner, had received the bribe of Rs 2 lakhs from the mobile shop owner, Udayakumar, allegely to clear him in a case of import of spare parts for mobile phones.
