 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J jayalalithaa announces solatium to rain and road accident victims

Chennai, Oct 25: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J jayalalithaa today announced a solatium of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the families of 14 people killed in various rain-related incidents in the State following the onset of Northeast monsoon.

In a statement here, the Chief Minister expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and announced an immediate assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh each to them. The deaths were reported in Cuddalore, Villuppuram, Trichy, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli and Tiruvannamalai districts. In another statement, Ms Jayalalithaa announced an assistance of Rs two lakhs each to the families of two cops who died in harness.

She expressed anguish over the deaths of Special Sub-Inspectors K Mohan, attached to the Thanjavur Taluk Police station, and G Kulasekaran, attached to the Rajamangalam Police station in Chennai city, due to ailments and offered her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She also announced Rs two lakh assistance to their families from the Chief Minister's Public Relief fund.

In another release, Ms Jayalalithaa announced a solatium of Rs one lakh each to the families of four people who died in various road accidents in the state. She also announced an assistance of Rs 25,000 each to those who sustained serious injuries in the mishap and Rs 10,000 to those who suffered simple injuries. She said the assistance would be given from the Chief Minister's Public Relief fund.
