Petition seeking to register criminal case against Nithyananda and 2 others

Madurai, Tamilnadu Jun 06 : Seeking the High Court (HC) direction to Tamilnadu police to register a criminal case against controversial God man and junior Pontiff of Madurai Mutt Nithyananda and two of his women associates on the charges of indulging in 'immoral activities,' a petition was filed in the Madras High Court Bench, here.

In his petition filed last evening, M.Solai Kannan, Madurai district President of Hindu Peoples' Party stated that he and his two friends visited the mutt on May 12.  Nithyanananda had asked them to participate in a special religious ritual conducted by him to experience 'bliss and heavenly composure.'  Nithyananda also offered to make a compromise with the petitioner on the issue of crowning him as junior pontiff of Madurai mutt.

Soon after this, some disciples of Nithyananda and foreign nationals led by an actress joined them. Later, 'theertham,' or holy water was given to all those who assembled in the mutt hall. But after consuming it we felt dizzy. Western music was played after which the foreign nationals and the disciples started dancing. More than ten wet tiger skins and elephant tusks were brought to the hall to be used as floor spreads and pillows.

Some of the foreigners left the main hall for exchanging foreign currency with agents waiting outside. In the mean time, Nithyananda and the actress started reclining on the first tiger skin bed in a compromising position, followed by other pairs in the other tiger skins.  Unable to stand this obscenity, we left the mutt hall, the petitioner submitted.

The petitioner stated that he had lodged a complaint with the Vilakuthoon police station in Madurai on the same day. But, no case was registered. Solai Kannan sought the high court's direction to the police to register a criminal case under the Indian Penal Code, Tamilnadu Immoral Trafficking Act, Forest Act and Foreign Exchange Management Act against Nithyananda and his two women associates.

He had also included the State Director General of Police (DGP) and Madurai City Police Commissioner as respondents in the case. The case is expected to come up for hearing soon.
