Chennai, Sep 10: Come September 21 to 24, this film crazy city where cinema coexists with the state's political history, will celebrate centenary of Indian cinema. According to South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) president Kalyan, free film shows and and exhibition of film clippings and songs, what with music being an integral part of Indian cinema, in public parks, will be a special feature of the centenary celebrations.
On September 21, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, herself a very successful actress and well known as matinee idol turned politician, the legendary MGR's heroine in as many as 28 films in Tamil, will kick off the gala celebrations at the venue Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium.
On the Valedictory day on September 24, President Pranab Mukherjee, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Bollywood stars and film makers led by superstar Amitabh Bachchan, will grace the occasion. The Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh will also participate in the colourful function. Kannada and Telugu films will be screened at the venue on September 22 and Malayalam on September 23.
