Chennai, Feb. 08 The second phase of the Pulse Polio campaign will be taken up in Tamil Nadu on February 10.
The Public Health Department had made elaborate arrangements in coordination with other departments to administer the second dose of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to all children under five years of age, an official release here said today.
About two lakh personnel, including volunteers of NGOs like Rotary Clubs, would be involved in the mega compaign. Private doctors have also been requested to open their clinics on February ten and invite their clients to give polio drops to children, irrespective of their previous immunisation status, the release said.
In the first round campaign conducted on January six, around 72 lakh children below the age of five years benefitted, which included about 30,000 migrant children. Special efforts were being taken to cover the children of migrant workers settled in construction sites and other places, the release said.- Bureau Report
