The funeral pyre was lit by Amitabh Bachchan.

Several dignitaries, including former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, actor Vivek Oberoi, industrialist Anil Ambani, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and director Pehlaj Nihlani were present at the cremation.

Shekhawat met the Bachchan family and expressed his grief.

"I know the Bachchan family very well. Teji Bachchan was a lady with great virtues, who managed her family very well. Her values are very much instilled in her family," he said.

The funeral procession started at 10 a.m. From Bachchan's Juhu bunglow `Pratiksha' and reached the Ruia Park cremation ground after nearly an hour.

Teji Bachchan died yesterday at the age of 93 at Lilavati Hospital. (Agencies)
