HC asks govt to act on ACB report on liquor pay-offs

    

Hyderabad, Nov 20 : Andhra Pradesh High Corut today directed the government to take action on the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) report on liquor pay offs in four weeks.

The court also adjourned the hearing on the final report on the liquor syndicate probe submitted by the ACB yesterday, to five weeks. On Monday, ACB submitted its final report on the liquor syndicate probe to the high court after completing the investigation into the liquor scam entrusted by the court. ACB sources said they have booked 48 cases with regard to the liquor syndicate probe and arrested 140 persons, including excise, revenue and police officials.

ACB has informed the court that they have asked permission for prosecution against some officials and against the rest, they have recommended departmental inquiry and disciplinary action. All the arrested persons are out on bail. 'In addition to those who are arrested, we have found evidence against some more accused and permission has been sought for prosecution against such accused,' an ACB officer said.
