Hyderabad, Apr 20 : Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP Mahila Morcha today said the Centre must implement the 'Nirbhaya Act' effectively to curb rape incidents in the country. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Morcha leaders-- General Secretary D Nirmala and President S Malathi Rani-- said the recent incidents of rapes had shocked the entire nation and taking into cognizance of the same, the Centre had brought 'Nirbhaya Act' to curb such type of incidents. But it was really shocking to notice that such brutal deeds were still going on, especially in the capital city, where a minor girl was raped, they said.
They claimed that there were several loopholes in the implementation of 'Nirbhaya Act' in the capital city. It was really shameful to notice that highest number of rape cases were registered in Delhi, they said, adding and if the scenario continued, the image and reputation of the country would be on high risk. The leaders demanded that Union Home Ministry intervene for proper implementation of the act.
