Hyderabad, Oct 26: The last journey of 34-year-old pro-Telangana activist G Raji Reddy, who died yesterday after suffering grievous injuries after being hit by a teargas shell during the September 30 Telangana March, began from his Kukatapally residence here today.
Earlier the Telangana protagonists visited his residence and paid rich tributes to him by raising 'Jai Telangana Slogans.' Telangana Political Joint Action committee (JAC) Chairman Prof M Kodandaram, Telangana Jagruthi President Kavitha TRS MLA Harish Rao, Party Politburo Member Sravan, employees JAC leaders Devisri Prasad and Srinivas Goud and BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy and Vidyasagar Rao also visited the residence of the active participant in the Telangana agitation and paid tributes. Reddy succumbed to his injuries yesterday after battling for life for 26 days at a corporate hospital.
On September 30, Reddy after entering the Necklace Road where the march was held, sustained injuries on his temple, when a teargas shell lobbed by the police to disperse the crowd, hit him. He was initially rushed to the Gandhi Hospital and later to Mediciti hospital where he succumbed yesterday, TRS sources said. The news of Reddy's death has sparked angry reactions with the Osmania University Students Joint Action committee (JAC) anouncing that the effigies of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would be burnt in all the district headquarters of Telangana today. The JAC demanded a judicial inquiry into the firing and criminal action against the concerned police personnel.
