K'taka Film Industry to support 'Karnataka Bandh' on Oct 6

    

Bangalore, Sep 27 : Karnataka Film Industry today extended its full support to 'Karnataka Bandh' to be observed on October 6 on a call given by various Kannada organisations to protest against release of water from river Cauvery to Tamil Nadu.

Veteran actor and former Union Minister Ambareesh told newsmen that the Kannada Film Industry will be shut down on October 6 and a procession will be taken out to Raj Bhavan where a memorandum will be submitted to Governor H R Bhardwaj. He said the State was reeling under severe drought condition and experiencing shortage of water for standing crops and drinking purpose.

He said on that day all the Film Industry personnel will join the procession in support of the bandh. Various Kannda organisations, who have been agitating against Cauvery River Authority (CRA) direction to the State government to release 9000 cusecs of water till October 15, have been protesting in Mandya, Chamarajanagara and Mysore districts and have given a bandh call.
