Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 31 : Joint Collector Babu Ahmed today said that as many as 140 special paddy purchase centers were being opened all over the district to purchase Kharif paddy at the prescribed minimum support price (MSP).
He told press persons here that the government had announced Rs 1,280 per quintal for Grade-A and Rs 1,250 for common varieties of paddy as the MSP.' The rate fixed for 75 kg of paddy was Rs 960 for Grade-A and Rs.937.50 for common varieties. Of these centers 55 are in Amalapuram division, 23 in Peddapuram division, 30 in Rajahmundry division, 26 in Kakinada division, six in Rampachodavaram division.
Among these centers, 106 will be run by primary agricultural cooperative societies, five centers by Rythu Mithra groups, 24 by civil supplies and five through Indira Kranti patham groups. The farmers should make best use of these centers to get MSP for their paddy, he added.
