Budget will ensure 'development'

Puducherry,Feb 28: Union minister of state for Pirme Minister's Office V Narayansami today termed the general budget presented by finance minister P Chidambaram in the Parliament today as one which would ensure the development of the country.

Reacting to the budget,Narayansami said priority has been given to women and youths and at the same time cncessions for poor and rural development was also focussed,besides seperate bank for women mooted. Known economist and former parliament member Prof Ramadass said that inclusive growth will ensure peoples development and efforts for inclusive growth was there in the budget.

Several schemes for the development of women are there ,he said adding that the governemnt had suceeded in properly utilising its fund to achive targets. Reacting to the budget,Puducherry unit CPI secretary R Viswanathan said that common people will be affected by the budget and it will lead to increase in poverty,while CPM secretary V Perumal said that the expectations of the poor were shattered.There is no scheme to curb price rise and more funds need to be allocated for education and agriculture.

BJP Pondy Unit General Secretary Swaminathan charged that there is nothing in the budget to ensure industrial development.This budget would lead to further financial crisis,he added.
