MMK strike on retail FDI

    

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 23 : Members of the Tiruchirapalli unit of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi and Manithaneya Varthaga Nala Sangam led by MMK District Secretary M Faiz Ahammed commenced their three-day awareness campaign against the Union Government's move to allow the 51 per cent Foreign Direct Investment in retail.

In his address, Mr Faiz Ahammed said the campaign will cover the entire urban and suburban areas of Tiruchirapalli City during which volunteers will distribute pamphlets explaining the 'evils of the FDI into the country's retail trade.' Inaugurating the campaign, State General Secretary of the Tamilnadu Muslim munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) P Abdulsamad said crores and crores people of the country fully depended on the country's retail trade.

If the Union Governemnt allowed the 51 per cent FDI, their interst would be affectd. He urged the Union Government to give up its move and protect the interest of those who depended on the retail trade in the country.
