Lucknow, Nov 7 In a miracle of sorts, a 21-year-old
youth who had suffered serious injuries in his left eye from a
protruding rod was saved after a five-hour long operation at
the Chatrapati Sahuji Mahraj Medical University (CSMMU) here.
Mahesh, an electrician, while returning home had met with
an accident in which an iron rod attached to the steel guard
in the front bumper of the tempo pierced into his left eye.
After the rod was cut off with gas cutters at the
accident site, Mahesh was taken to the trauma centre of CSSMU
where he was referred to the neurosurgery department of the
hospital.
Doctors, who had performed the operation yesterday, said
the rod had gone four inches deep but had stopped short of
piercing the brain tissues.
The patient's post operation behaviour suggested that
there had been no damage to the brain, they added. - (Agencies)
