Bangalore, Nov 19 The Cheshire disability Trust which organised a job fair for the persons with disabilities at the JSS Polytechnic for Women, here last week, today said over 200 candidates attended the event that attracted top employers like Infosys, Cap Gemini and Accenture.
The event started off with a brief on CDT activities and the Disability sensitization programme-'Windmills Activity' for the employers, followed by an introduction on various technologies and work place solutions for the persons with disabilities was briefed by CDT. There were 200 candidates who were SSLC/ diploma holders/ graduates/ engineers and nearly 25 companies which participated in the job fair such as Infosys, Cap Gemini, and Accenture.
All companies from the IT/BPO/Retail/QSR sectors showed keen interest in providing employment opportunities to persons with disabilities. Most of the companies followed the entire selection process in selecting the candidates like, giving them a written test followed by a technical and HR round. The interviews for the hearing impaired was done with the support of sign language interpreters provided by CDT and the entire job fair process was undertaken successfully by its staff and volunteers from Accenture, a release from the trust said.
The candidates were given training in communications, computers, basic tally and accountancy, usage of internet, Basic English language communication and soft skills, three weeks prior to the job fair was undertaken by CDT. Out of the 200 who attended, 41 candidates were selected by the participating companies.
