Hyderabad, Nov 28 : YSR Congress President and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy's hopes of early release from jail on bail were dashed with the Central Bureau of Investigation Special Court here dismissing his petition today.
The court, which had reserved its orders, on his petition rejected his plea after prologned argnemnts of the CBI counsel and the legal team of the accused, in the disproportionate assets case registered against Jagan. In another bail petition filed earlier by the Kadapa MP the court posted the hearing to November 30. The Kadapa MP, presently under judicial remand and lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison here since his arrest on May 27 by the CBI on corruption charges, had filed two separate petitions in the court seeking bail on November 16.
This is the second bail plea of Jagan rejected by the CBI court here after it had earlier dismissed the bail plea on June 1, on the ground that he (being an MP and president of a political party) was in the position to tamper with evidence and influence the witnesses. The Supreme Court too on October 5 dismissed Jagan's bail plea in the alleged multi-crore disproportionate assets case against him. The Apex court also ruled that Jagan can apply for bail only after the CBI completes its investigation in all the seven other cases lodged against him.
