Chennai, Nov 3: Security was beefed up in magistrate courts in the city today,following information that some accused in certain cases could be targetted by unknown persons.
Highly placed police officials dismissed the threat as "vague information" but said they did not want to take a chance,following which more police personnel, some of them armed, were posted in the courts at Egmore, Saidapet and Georgetown courts.
Access control measures were in place and persons entering the court were allowed only after a thorough check,officials said.
