Chennai, Nov 7: The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Government to consider the cases of around 40 aspirants for the post of sub-inspector, denied selection in 2007 allegedly due to mistakes in evaluation of three questions.
Disposing of a batch of petitions, Justice M M Sundaresh directed the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board to conduct interviews for such candidates if they achieved the cut-off marks after awarding them the additional marks and accommodate them in available vacancies.
About 40 aspirants would benefit from the from the exercise to be completed in three months. The board had conducted the written test on December 20, 2007 for selecting 682 sub-inspectors of police.
The Board had given the wrong key to examiners evaluating answer papers resulting in some wrong answers being awarded marks and the right answers being rejected.
The court was petitioned after the Board, following representations, conceded that the mistakes had indeed been committed, but said the candidates could not be considered for selection.
