Flag day inaugurated in Pondy

    

Puducherry, Dec 7 : The Armed Forces Flag Day was today inaugurated by Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy by contributing to the Flag Day fund.

At the function organised by the Saink Welfare Board, Puducherry Chief Secretary Chandravathy, Inspector General of Police Ranveer Singh and senior officials of the territorial adminsitration participated and contributed towards the fund. The Chief Minister, on the occasion, appreciated all department heads for the contribution of Rs. 47,49,232 towards the fund last year and appealed to all departments to contribute generously towards the fund.

Mr Rangasamy also distributed trophies to the top collectors of the fund last year. Puducherry Education Deaprtment which collected Rs.18,33,505, came first while Revenue Department with Rs.46,8,570 and PWD with Rs.18,8,495 came second and third respectively.Karaikal collectorate bagged the first prize by collecting Rs.659482 ,the highest among outlying regions. JIPMER came first amng other organisations collection Rs.15,8,260 and NCC Group Head Quarters collected Rs.9,1218 through Hundi collection.
