Puducherry, Aug 25: The Congress Legislature Party convened to put an end to the factional feud in the Puducherry cabinet, adopted a one line resolution authorising AICC President Sonia Gandhi to take an "appropriate" decision to end the squabbles.
All the ten MLAs along with five ministers and Chief Minister N Rangasamy (in the six-member cabinet) attended the meeting during which Union Minister and AICC Coordinator Vayalar Ravi obtained views collectively as well as individually from the members.
Ravi later told reporters that the meeting was held in a "cordial atmosphere" and "no" decision was taken at the meeting.
A one line resolution was passed authorising Sonia Gandhi to take appropriate decisions "on the issues pertaining to the Congress government here," he said.
Besides Ravi, the meeting was attended by AICC General Secretary K B Krishnamoorthy and Secretary V Arunkumar.
However, ominously for Rangasamy, Ravi, while answering a question whether Rangasamy Ministry was stable, said "for the present." He said no voting took place to ascertain support to the Chief Minister. "We will place the report and also the minutes and views of the chief minister for the consideration of the high command, he said.
Besides, Congress MLAs, the views of three Independent members -- M Elumalai, A Marimuthu and J Narayanasamy -- were also taken though they did not take part in the meeting due to certain legal technicalities, Ravi said.
Congress has ten elected and one nominated member in the 33-member assembly and is supported from outside by DMK (7), CPI (2), PMK (3) and three Independents. - Agencies
