Chennai, Nov 30 : President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here from New Delhi by a special IAF aircraft to participate in the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Tamil Nadu Assembly this evening.

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, TNCC President Gnanadesikan and Congress MP J M Haroon were among those who received the President at the airport. The President then drove to the C I T Colony Residence of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi for a brief meeting with him. He then proceeded to Fort St George, which houses the Tamil Nadu Assembly, to take part in the Diamond Jubilee function, before his departure to Kolkata from here.
