Panaji, Nov 3 NCP MLA Fransisco Pacheco today
moved an application seeking to withdraw his disqualification
petition against Congress legislators Churchill Alemao and
Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco.
Pacheco told PTI that he has submitted a letter to Goa
assembly speaker Pratapsingh Rane seeking to withdraw the
petition he filed around a-year-and-a-half ago.
Alemao is public works department minister in Digamber
Kamat cabinet, while Lourenco is chairing state-owned Kadamba
Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL).
Pacheco, NCP legislator and state tourism minister,
had filed disqualification petition against the two after
they merged their erstwhile Save Goa Front (SGF) with the
Congress in the last week of January, 2008, terming the move
as illegal.
The disqualification was sought under provisions of
article 191(2) read with 10th schedule of the Constitution
relating to defection. - (Agencies)
