Ulema of Bareilvy support fatwa against Vande Mataram

Bareilly, Nov 5 Ulema of Bareilvy sect today endorsed the fatwa issued by Deoband clerics against reciting of national song Vande Mataram.

"We also think that fatwa issued against Vande Mataram is right because in Islam it is not permitted to worship any other God. Although we love our country but we cannot worship it. Our Prophet has preached us to love our country. We love it," Sajjada Nasheen of Dargahe Ala Hazrat Maulana Subhan Raza Khan said here today.

Similar views were echoed by General Secretary of All India Jamaat Raza Mustafa Maulana Shahabuddin saying that they can not recite Vande Mataram.

"We have reservations on some of its lines which is not in accordance with our religious faith. But it does not mean that we do not love our country. We need no certificate for our patriotism," he added.
