Ranchi, Nov 3 Skipper Saurav Tiwary's century and
his 162-run fourth wicket partnership with Rajiv Kumar (75)
put Jharkhand in the driver's seat on the first day of the
four-day Plate Group 'A' Ranji Trophy tie against Tripura at
Mecon Stadium here today.
At the draw of stumps, the hosts were at 299 for five in
their first innings with Shiv Gautam (12) and Shahbaz Nadeem
(10) at the crease.
After suffering initial jolts when the team was reduced
to 22 for two, Tiwari (136) joined Ishank Jaggi (31) and the
two put on 92 valuable runs for the third wicket.
After the dismissal of Jaggi, Tiwari and Kumar toyed with
the Tripura bowlers till offie Jayant Debnath clean bowled
Tiwari and Kumar followed suit, being run out.
Tiwari struck 15 boundaries in his chanceless ton. - (Agencies)
