Hyderabad, Nov 7 GMR Infrastructure Global
Limited, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure limited, has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldivian
Government to upgrade an airport there to international level.
The airport is located at Hanimaadhoo in the Upper North
Province of Maldives and 287 kilo meters from the national

According to a GMR official, the company would first
undertake a feasible study and submit to the government.
As the country is ecologically fragile, a lot of issues
are to be considered apart from financial viability, the
official told PTI.
The official said after submitting the feasibility report
the Maldivian Government would take a decision.
The Hanimaadhoo airport, with a runway of 4,000 feet, has
been currently handling only about 20 flights a day, according
