Palakkad, Dec 3: The 148th meeting of Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of Palghat Division was held at Railway Divisional Office, here today.

Chairman of the Committee and Divisional Railway Manager, Piyush Agarwal, presided over the meeting. This is the 3rd meeting of this Committee. In his presidential address he informed that Palakkad division had performed well during the period April to November 2012.

The Division had excellent positive growth in all the spheres with an overall earnings of Rs 564 crores achieving an increase of 45% over the previous year. Agarwal also informed that under the Memeber of Parliament PRS scheme, the Division had commissioned two Computerised Passenger Reservation Centres at Mukkam and Mannarkkad during September and October 2012.

Three more will be commissioned shortly. 34 Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks (JTBS) with 37 counters are funcationing in the divsion. Another 23 have been awarded. Almost 17% of the Division's unreserved tickets are being issued by these JTBSs.

In order to improve the cleanliness in Trains and to control pests, the Division had taken various measures like high-pressure jet cleaning facility, Fumigation of coaches etc, in addition to this the cleaning activities in all A and B category stations in the division have been outsourced.
