Karnataka to approach SC against CMC direction to release 4 TMC water

The Karnataka government will move the Supreme Court against Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC) order to release 4.5 tmc of water from river Cauvery to Tamil Nadu, Minister for Water Resources Basavaraj Bommai said today.

Stating that the petition will be filed on November 23, Mr Bommai told newsmen here that 'the CMC has been crossing its limits by ordering release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu from November 16 to 30.

It was highly impossible to release any more water to Tamil Nadu since water storage in the Cauvery basin reservoirs was not sufficient for our farmers besides it needs for drinking water.
