Indian junior paddlers get down to basics

Hyderabad, Dec 4: It was back to work for the Indian boys and girls, who will battle it out for honours in the ensuing X Volkswagen World Junior Table Tennis Championship. Less than 24 hours after their arrival in Hyderabad.

The 12-member Indian team got down to the elementary stuff under the watchful eyes of Dronacharya awardee Bhawani Mukherjee and Arjuna award winner Kamlesh Mehta, the two coaches of the Indian team for the mega event that will be hosted at Gachibowli Stadium from December 9-16.

The two masters conducted the training-cum-conditioning camp with the stress being on tactics and maintaining temperament. Also present on the occasion was badminton guru and Dronacharya S M Arif, who interacted with the boys and girls. He urged them to focus on honing the timeless values of physical training. Present for the camp were the boys comprising of Abhishek Yadav, Utkarsh Gupta, Sudhanshu Grover, Sabhey Virmani, Arjun Gosh and Rohit. Special attention was on the girls, including Suthirta Mukherjee, Karnam Spoorthi, Manika Batra, Reethrisha, Malika Bhandarkar and Ahika Mukharjee.
