3 engineering students arrested for ragging

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 23 : Three students of Godavari College of Engineering and Technology, Rajanagaram, were arrested by Rajahmundry One Town Police yesterday on the charge of indulging in ragging, abduction and torturing one of their junior colleagues.

The victim, Chinthala Sai Naresh, first year B Tech student who is the son of a ONGC employee, complained to police on Thursday morning that he was kidnapped by seven students who have been ragging him for quite some time and later left him in his car near the college in the early hours. Police sources said a posse of police immediately swung into action and arrested the three students. DSP Anil Kumar told UNI the police took it very seriously and launched a hunt for the other four culprits.

He gave the names of the arrested as Byrati Chandramouli, Ballarapu Sanni Krishna and Kadiyala Bala Chandra Mouli- all third year B tech students. Following this incident, he said, mufti police were kept at all the colleges in Rajahmundry to nab those indulging in ragging and eve teasing.
