Vote out govt, Cauvery Samithi tells MLAs

Mandya, Karnataka, Dec 7 : The Cauvery Ritha Hitha Rakshna Samithi today strongly urged the opposition parties to move no confidence motion against the BJP Government in the Belgum Assembly Session.

Speaking to reporters here, Samithi President G Made Gowda said the BJP government has no moral right to stay in power after it failed to protect the farmers' interest and asked the leader of the opposition Siddaramiah to move a no confidence motion in the Assembly. All the legislators should vote out the government otherwise the samithi would launch agitation against the MLAs, he added.

It was unfortunate the state government despite the assurance in Assembly released the Cauvery water to Tamil Nandu on the direction of the Supreme Court. The same government had assured several times that no water would be released even if the government fell, he claimed. The Cauvery Basin farmers under the samithi had met several times the Chief Minister and other government officials with regard to release of the water to Tamil Nandu during last three months. However, the government released the water surreptitiously, he criticized.
