New Delhi, Nov 5 Congress and Jharkhand Vikas
Morcha are inching towards a pre-poll alliance for the
assembly elections in Jharkhand with a final shape being given
to the arrangement.
Congress sources said in the new formula, the JVM could
be given 25 seats and there could be friendly contest between
the two parties on six seats.
Former chief minister and President of JVM Babu Lal
Marandi has been demanding at least 31 of the 81 seats, while
Congress was not willing to give more than 25.
They said the talks between the two parties hinge on the
new formula and hoped that this would be acceptable to
Marandi, who is an independent MP from Koderma and giving
outside support to the UPA at the Centre.
Congress has announced the names of 49 candidates while
the JVM has announced the names of nine candidates so far. - (Agencies)
