Migrants fume as permission denied to meet Chidambaram

    
Jammu, Nov 5 Migrants in the Jammu region today staged a dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan here protesting against alleged denial of permission to meet Union Home Minister P Chidambaram during his yesterday's visit.

The protesters said they wanted to meet the minister to submit a memorandum demanding urgent intervention of state governor to ensure them relief measures as provided to migrants in the Kashmir region in accordance with a Supreme Court order in 2006, official sources said.

Leaders of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) were also present in the dharna.

Chidambaram had yesterday visited the satellite township being raised for Kashmiri migrants at Jagti in Nagrota, 15 km from here. A total of 2,160 flats are under-construction for Kashmiri migrants.
