President mourns Gujral's death

    

Chennai, Nov 30 : The death of former Prime Minister I K Gujral at Gurgaon was mourned by President Pranab Mukherjee and Tamil Nadu Chief MInister J Jayalalithaa during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the State Assembly.

Immediately after the rendering of the National Anthem, Ms Jayalalithaa rose to say that 'with deep regret, I have to announce the demise of former Prime Minister I K Gujral. It is the wish of the President that we should rise and observe two minutes silence to the departed soul', she said.

After this, the President, the Chief MInister and State Governor Dr K Rosaiah and the members of the Tamil Nadu Assembly mourned the death of Mr Gujral by observing silence for two minutes, after which the diamond jubilee celebrations began.
