Bhopal, Jun 26 Monsoon today reached Khandwa,
in south western Madhya Pradesh, and is likely to become
active in the entire state in a day or two.
"Monsoon has reached Khandwa and is likely to cover
the entire state in a day or two," Indian Meteorological
Department Director D P Dubey told PTI.
Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience normal
rainfall this year, he added.
South-west Monsoon usually sets in between June 11-13
from eastern or western part of Madhya Pradesh. Last year it
entered from eastern part on June 13, he said.
But this year the monsoon got delayed, which saw
people from different faiths and even Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan offering prayers for good rainy season.
Last year, the western part of the state recorded 71
cm rainfall against the normal 90 cm, while the eastern parts
received 102 cm against 110 cm rainfall. - (Agencies)
