Hyderabad, Nov 3 Unidentified persons stole a sum of over Rs 14 lakh from an ATM machine of ICICI Bank in Peddapuram town in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.

The amount stocked in the machine seems to have been stolen between October 31 and November 1, but the Bank authorities filed a complaint on the incident this morning, they said.

The Bank Manager, who lodged a complaint over the loss of Rs 14.47 lakh from the ATM in the bank premises, has said that they were verifying the transactions of withdrawal from the ATM to know the actual amount stolen, Peddapuram police said.

The CCTV camera installed in the ATM was found tampered with and the amount kept in the ATM chest was opened with a key, after the security guard had gone for lunch, police said based on preliminary investigation.
