Tiruchirapalli, Dec 15 : DMK Treasurer and former Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin today ridiculed the claims made by the AIADMK functionaries that the achievements of the present regime of the AIADMK led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the last one and half years was equivalent to 100 years of achievement.
Addressing party workers of Tiruchirapalli Lok Sabha Constituency here, Mr Stalin also criticised the very often cabinet reshuffle made by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa besides shuffling the IAS officers and IPS officers. He said during the previous DMK regime schemes were initiated to generate 3,000 MW power at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore, but due to inefficiency of Ms Jayallaithaa, who subsequently assumed office of the Chief Minister in 2011, the new power generation schemes mooted by the previous DMK government were still pending.
If Ms Jayallaithaa could have started implementing those new power projects, the present power shortage in Tamil Nadu would have been averted to a larger extent, he claimed. He alleged that Ms Jayalalithaa's government foisted false cases against former DMK ministers and other party functionaries and detained several others, including former D M K Minister Veerapandi Arumugam, under Goondas Act and lodged them in the prison for months together.
However, all of them were freed by the competent courts, he added. He said the DMK never bothered about the victory or defeats in the elections and continue to serve the people as well as the society by taking the victory and defeats equally. He called upon the party workers to work hard to win all the 39 Lok Sabha seats and a lone seat in Puducherry in the coming Lok Sabha elections as it would reflect the 2016 assembly elections to Tamil Nadu assembly. Among others Party's Tiruchirapalli District Secretary and former Minister K N Nehru, former Ministers M Chinnasamy, N Selvaraj, Former Union Minister S Reghupaty, DMK Rajyasabha member Tiruchi N Siva and others spoke.
