Madurai, Nov 7: The Tamilnadu Toddy movement has threatened to make liquor from foodgrains and fruits and sell them locally if the state government lift the ban on tapping and selling of toddy by January 2010
Speaking to reporters here,Movement Coordinator C Nallasamy said the government should allow farmers to convert toddy into consumable liquor and export it to other states and countries to earn more revenue.
If the Government proves toddy is worse than IMFL, then we will give up our campaign for Toddy."he said.
He demanded to know the need for a ban when liquor from China, France, Japan, Scotland and Russia were available in Duty Paid shops and Indian Made Foreign Liquor manufactured from molasses "by adding chemicals" was available. Toddy tapping also provides jobs to thousands of tappers across the state, he said.
